Traveling is perhaps everyone’s favorite.

Isn’t it ?

And what if your trip is international ?

Surely you can have the best experience of your life or even may be the worst too.

Why am I saying the worst ?

Because traveling abroad means you are going to a different country, a different region with different governing bodies, different rules & regulations, different culture & tradition, different environment and so on.

Not taking care of proper precautions and safety measures in the activities during your trip can stick you into one of the biggest problems you would ever face in your whole life.

Do’s and Don’ts of traveling abroad

So hey guys, this is your friend Priyanshu, I welcome you to our blog Travel-o-clock, where we consistently post informative and interesting articles related to travel guide, trip, destination, package and a lot more.

Giving your safety a priority, today I am gonna tell you about 10 Do’s and Don’ts of traveling abroad to make your first international trip smooth and hassle free. So that you can enjoy your trip tension free

So the list starts with…..

Do : Keep photocopy of your documents

This is the most necessary suggestion for you. A day before leaving your home make sure that you have all the necessary documents and you are carrying 4-5 copies of each document with you. This would be very helpful to prove your identity in any circumstances and can fasten the process to get your lost or damaged documents reissued to you.

Documents

Don’t : Talk politics

Not society & environment in all the countries and their rules & regulations would be the same. Maybe you have the right to talk about any political issue or political party but the country you are visiting in may not have freedom of free speech and talking about anything unacceptable in the public may lead you to a very big trouble.

And even what’s the need ?

You are on a vacation, enjoy your trip and keep yourself out of any political discussion.

Do : Keep valuables in room

You don’t need to carry all your luggage with you all the time, obviously you must have booked a hotel room. You should keep all your luggage and exclusive things with yourself like your credit cards, cash, jewelries in your room-safe. Keep limited things with you. Even some hotels offer safe deposit box-service, if available, you can opt for higher security.

Expensive valuables

Don’t : Show or exchange money in public

As suggested above, keep all your documents and valuable essentials in your room-lock and when it comes to cash, take out only a little amount that would be needed in your same day trip plan and do not show your money in public.

Since you are traveling to another country, it’s obvious you will need to exchange your currency according to your respective destination. Do not exchange currency from anywhere or with any local, there are chances they may give you fake currency notes that can get you in trouble.

Do : Travel in group

I know traveling solo is fun but when it comes to traveling abroad, especially if this is your first international trip, it could be a headache and risky to travel alone. We recommend you to follow the buddy system, always have a group of friends on your trip.

Traveling with friends, shopping and eating can literally boost the joy & fun of your trip and surely It also reduces the chances of theft or any other untoward incident as well said “There is safety in Numbers”.

Group of friends

Don’t : Visit isolated areas

We have already suggested you not to go on a solo trip abroad. But even if you are with a group do not get over excited, keep safety precautions in your mind and most necessarily visit only safe & public tourist places and if someone suggests you tourists spot far away or in an isolated area, ignore them, never visit such areas especially at night.

Do : Cultural activities and taste new dishes

Looking at this many safety precautions don’t get scared and lie down in your hotel room, these are to make your trip safer. You are there to enjoy so go out and enjoy your trip. The place you are at has a very different environment, different types of people with different cultures & traditions and awesome new dishes. Look at some cultural shows in the locality. Don’t look here and there for your regional food, try out some local dishes. Maybe you don’t like all of them but “These are the things that will be remembered later that will make your trip unforgettable”.

Cultural event

Don’t : Make fun of their culture

This is the thing we are taught from our childhood in schools that we should respect everything.

While attending any cultural event or show, there is a probability that you got something funny to laugh at but do not laugh or make fun of their show, their culture, their tradition.

Everyone has some attachments with their culture, tradition & history and making fun of may offend their beliefs.

After all, don't forget you are in some other country not at your home, you are there to enjoy your vacation & explore new things, not to spoil your trip. And better remember “Treat people the way you want to be treated”.

Do : Dress up local

One safety measure that is absolutely going to be a fun and a new exciting experience for you is to wear like locals.

Yes, wearing new types of traditional dresses will surely be fun and also blending with locals makes you less targeted and reduces the chances of any unfortunate.

local people

Don’t : Consume drugs

Although we never promote consuming or any other intoxicants anywhere in the world but especially if you are on an international trip, make sure that you do not have drugs with you even in a small amount too and also do not accept any suspicious thing from any stranger. Some countries in the world are extremely strict against drugs and the presence of drugs with you can get you in very big trouble.
